History
In the village of Old Pedino (Then known as Pesperago), Christos Kremmydas in 1932, 20 years after he arrived in the island as a soldier to free Limnos from the Ottoman rule, started producing tsipouro as well as white and red wine, in his kafenio (something between a modern cafeteria and tavern), along with his wife, Despina. In 1941, after Christos's death, his son Yannis Kremmydas took over the kafenio and the production of wine and tsipouro. In the following 50 years with a lot of work and love, he managed to make his wines known all over the island of Limnos. In 1992, it is Yannis's son Konstantions's turn to continue the tradition. He works with Muscat of Alexandria (white) and Limnio Kalabaki (red) varieties. In 2005, after 73 years of presence of the traditional winery in the old village square, the business moves in a new building with modern facilities right outside Old Pedino. For 82 years now, we keep the wine tradition alive with the first years' passion but also with the knowledge and experience gained in the field. The residents and visitors of Limnos can find our wine in shops around the island, in taverns and restaurants, or even visit us in our winery. Visit us and taste our exquisite Muscat of Alexandria and our fragrant Limnio Kalabaki. Awards/Special Recognitions In 2οο3 Dipolis (Muscat of Alexandria) won the Silver Medal while in 2005 it was Duyia's turn (Limnio Kalabaki) to win the Special Medal in Thessaloniki Internation Fair. |
